Our history
My name is Valentin and I founded Exotic Design in 2020 in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although the future was uncertain, I did everything I could to make my project a reality: offering French customers statues and furniture entirely designed and crafted by Balinese artisans.
I was and still am in love with the Balinese style, which I feel is warm and authentic.
"Discovering the history and culture of a world outside our own, and helping you discover the beauty of that world.
That's my passion. That's Exotic Design's passion."
The trip
With this in mind, I decided to set off on an adventure to Indonesia, heading for BALI 
.
I didn’t know the language, nor the customs in Bali.
I only had a few local contacts that I’d made during my first week in Bali.
Nothing concrete after all!
But I was determined.
I put all my energy into finding local artisans who offered the products I wanted.
I crossed the jungle, mountains and small villages several times on my scooter, without really knowing if I was going to succeed.
The road was not easy, and there were many pitfalls.
But little by little, after a month’s immersion in this beautiful country, I found some wonderful, reliable craftsmen to work with on my project.

After seeing the extremely difficult and tedious process of hand-carving a statue (from a single block of stone);
I also saw how artists’ lives were affected by the Covid-19 crisis and the lack of demand for their unique sculptures.
My goal was to create a new market for artists, a rewarding job for me, and to increase French exposure to the beauty of art in Asia.
Seven months later, Exotic Design was born!

The feedback from our customers is another source of inspiration for my team and me.
They now have someone they can trust to provide them with unique statues and furniture for their homes.
All the while knowing that this has a direct impact on the lives of people on the other side of the world.
